crappy writing is crappy

I hate these words and phrases in classroom context:

- "Let's unpack that"
- "craft/devise an argument"
- "I'm not sure what avenue to pursue."

I hear them almost exclusively in English classes. -_-; What, just because we're literary people, we have to have our own flowery jargon? It's not like it's creative - all it is is repetitive, because teachers (and students!!) use the same phrases over and over and over. There is no unpacking, crafting, devising, or pursuing going on. Students write papers. Students BS papers. Student's don't get it. Teachers talk too much. Actually I'd be afraid of the student who passionately claims, "Today I shall craft an argument that pursues many avenues of this subject matter in order to unpack it so it may be fully understood!"

:P My view of the world is maybe too plain for me to be an English major.

(In all seriousness, I cringe when I hear/read these phrases. It's so over-the-top. Just say "write an argument" or "Let's break it down" like a normal person!)

On another note:

The latest episode of House SUCKED. I have never hated a House episode this much. Usually I give benefit of the doubt even to the more lack luster episodes, and I've disliked episode before. I used to hate Season 2's "Clueless," but then it started to grow on me. I don't think that'll be the case with Monday's episode. The writing was just downright terrible. And the subject matter was random, predictable, tasteless and did absolutely nothing to develop any of the characters. It's like the writer wanted to do too much, then got scared in the middle when it was already a train wreck, and threw in every half-baked joke he could think of to distract readers from the glaring signs of "OMG I IZ BAD WRITER!!!"

The moral(s) of the episode is: Don't tell people anything about yourself ever. They only judge you, preach at you and mislead you and you might die of vegetarianism! Also, if you let anyone film you in college you will end up in a porno. This, my friends, is Confucius.

Also, fav line: "Since she tells us everything, we might as well treat her for everything." LAWLZ wtf kind of logic is that??

bad writers are bad, school, house, reading for lit classes is a burn, baaaw cry moar
