Turbine/Codemasters, you fail at free-to-play.

This prompted me to try out LOTRO. Ive been trying for two days now... D:

TBH, they could learn a few things from the likes of Aeria Games and PWE... The means to add LOTRO to an existing turbine account is buried in the FAQs, to the point I didn't even realise it was possible. So, having made a new account I tried to log on only to find out... I can't... I can log into the site just fine, but not the game. Getting help with this requires I input my credit card details. (EDIT: The reason for the login difficulties was that I had the wrong client because the European client is buried so deep in the site I had to google the damn thing. Which meant another 15GB download on top of the first one.)

So, so far, I have two accounts, neither of which can access the game, they want credit card details to answer any sort of questions or support tickets or to add a game key to an existing account. (Incidentally trying to do that takes you to the DDO website, which is... baffling.)

It all looks very pretty but I'm really not impressed with the customer support. Or the out of date security certificate. Really makes me want to trust them with my card details that does. : /

EDIT: Oh god I can't even register on the forum! D: What the hell guys!?

Oh. Right. Characters.

I'm Auryon or Liaureth on Snowbourn if you want to join me. : )

rants, lotro, mmo, games, life
