Yes, I know this isn't something worth getting worked-up about but I'm going to rant anyway (aside from which it saves me having to explain it fifty times to various different people)
Basically... The makers of my favourite MMO have basically just gone and killed it.
It's now open PK on every server. You lose 6% of your exp when you die instead of the 3% or less it used to be and they lifted the KS/loot blocks and as my character class generally can get own'd by every other class and I have no desire to d-level I don't much want to play. A magician several levels lower can kill most of the mercenaries I know in a single hit, and it's the mercenaries who got nerferd!? (OK it’s their advanced class, but the fact that Blades were eventually really good is what made the grind of being a mercenary worth it).
they've removed green and brown armour which were awesome and meant that if you got a green set every 10 levels you'd basically be fine. So not only are the greens I just spent a few hundred k and several hours on gathering useless, I have to buy MORE armour to replace them.
I mean... they had a system in place for PvP (One PK server in every world cluster of four and a risk-free PvP arena in the other three) and it worked fine dammit!
And you now have to pay a ridiculous amount of in-game money to make changes to your character that are purely aesthetic and have no effect whatsoever on the gameplay. Which would suck less if the initial choices weren’t limited to six haircuts per gender and you get no choice over the colour.
the PK sever was NEVER ONCE in the four months I've been playing busy, so I don't really know what gave tham the impression we all want open PK.
A good chunk of the advanced/ultimate weapons are now cash shop only (on a free MMO! Sort of defeats the purpose doesn't it?) In fact the only good addition has been implemented so poorly it actually makes things worse!
In fact they beta’d the new version for a measly three days, in which 90% of the testers gave a resounding "DO NOT WANT" and this v9 apparently has a strong resemblance to v8, which nobody wanted either.
So now the forum has roughly 30 pages of comments, though there have been more, at least five pages have gone missing so far, and an admin has commented, but only to tell people to post more constructive feedback.
Did I mention that patching for this version is a very special hell of its own due to erroring and crashing seemingly at random, so 12+ hours of that makes the end result just that much more of a letdown.
In fact I have to wonder why the powers that be bothered running a beta, or asking for feedback when it’s pretty clear they never had any intention of actually listening.
I don't think I'll be logging in for a while but I'm going to keep an eye on thigs and hope for the best.
