Aaaaaand...we're back!
My new laptop, affectionately named "Carpet Ship," came in today. It arrived about three days before we expected it, and I couldn't be happier. Setting it up for wireless was nice and easy, and it has this nifty little mouse-like thingy in the middle of the keyboard that I can use instead of the touchpad. Huzzah! Touchpads are evil.
Sadly, I am beginning to realize the devastating effect that my other laptop going "boom" will have. All of my bookmarks are gone. All of my downloads are gone. Many story notes will have to be retyped. I have to reload Word, because WordPad is teh suck. However, we will soldier on!
I have been highly productive today. I weeded this morning, did dishes, did laundry, folded/hung up and put away all of the laundry that was in the master bedroom (and that took a while, let me tell you), knitted a little bit on the sock I'm working on, and attempted to practice driving. I need lots more practice. I also went shopping with Alex, and we bought (among other things) scone mix, Devon clotted cream, and blackcurrant jam. England has given us non-diet-friendly tastes.
Now that I have Carpet Ship, I really feel that I can start writing. I know, I know--I feel that way about every notebook I purchase, every new gadget I get that has any word processing capability whatsoever, every nifty new kind of pen that I buy from the art store. But, if I really want to be a published author, I really do need to discipline myself and get to it. Organizing my office is part of this process. My desk is a mess again, for instance, and it must be cleaned. However, many things get in the way of writing. But if I can weed for an hour every morning, surely I can write for an hour as well? Writing is harder than weeding.
Alex has been using Pirates of the Carribean to set up the sound on the receiver in the living room. This amuses me.
I'm sure that there are more entertaining things to say, but I can't think of them at the moment. I leave you with this meme:
