I have had the Cold From Hell for a while now, and Alex is suffering the worst of it at the moment. Despite the frequent coughing, sneezing, and sniffling, we've actually shared quite a few wonderful events, most of which involved cooking. There is very little in life as relationship-enhancing as cooking with your spouse, especially when what you are cooking is potato soup (sooo good homemade) or risotto (with onion, shallot, chicken broth, and pancetta, mmmmm!). There's something about warm food on a rainy day and creating something together that brings out the glow in a marriage. Doing everyday things together is awesome. We both decided that we need to cook together more often.
I need to go out and talk to Alex about this weekend, but I am prevented. What prevents me, you ask? Mia is in my lap. I very seldom get a cat in my lap, so I'm following my own advice and treasuring this moment. However, she is also making it very difficult to type, as I have to keep my chair at an angle so that Mia doesn't get squished under my desk. Loki, meanwhile, is sitting on top of a stack of boxes, pointedly shunning me. He has no love for this interloper, even though he spends a good deal of his time chasing her around the house.
And now, I must go and talk to Alex. I will probably update further later, after I have done the rest of my homework (reading), eaten dinner (leftovers), and done a few other things around the house. In the meantime, treasure the quiet moments.
