It's been a good couple of weeks for me, techie toy-wise. I've just bought myself an iPod touch (was my bday present to myself), and I'm sitting at cafe perg's garden with a cold beer and posting this from it. Is awesome. Yay for cheap, secondhand, who knows if stolen goods from ebay, eh? Hopefully not, but apparently impossible to know; I couldn't find any real way to check. But is a fun toy, and I'm enjoying it immensely. Only one problem... Where the hell is my hulu? What do you mean there's no flash app put out by apple?
Now I have to jailbreak this thing, just for that.
And my e-bike is working again- also awesome. Only took about 6 hours of work to get it mobile... sad thing is how 6 hours seemed so insurmountable when I was in school that is sat broken and unused since October. Yay for no school! Yay for only working full time! I biked to the swap meet today, and my baskets are full of cherries and strawberries. Later there will be pie (from the cherries, at least).
Also, I've finally finished knitting a pair of typing gloves I started 5 years ago, to replace the set I lost at bman. Now to start another set with the fancy yarn I bought 5 years ago, for just that purpose. I just sat down last night with Ria and had her show me how to cable... Figured out why knitting patterns have always been so impossible for me at the same time; apparently the patterns assume that you aren't ambidextrous in your knitting. Go figure. When I knit, I don't turn the fabric around when I come to the end of a row, I just start knitting with the other hand. This is not normal? Not according to the pattern in the book. My next set of gloves will have a Celtic knot on the back, and be made of black cotten cashmere. Gleeful, greedy glee!
Got my sewing machine repaired, too. I'm good at guessing what's wrong, sometimes; I got it right both with the sewing machine and the ebike, though both the ebike folks and the sewing machine repair guy had seemed doubtful of my suggestions. Now to finish that corset I started 3 (?) years ago...
Baskets of cherries, bellyful of beer, strawberries, and cafe campesino... Air full of music and, blegh, cigarette smoke. It's a good day. Days like this it's easy to understand how I got trapped in this town.
