I took a bus to see dad and Ritva on Saturday. At first I was a little sulky because everyone else were going to have fun and celebrate the summer and I had to go to see The Old Man, but after all I had the luvliest time.
We went to this restaurant called Teini. On the outside it seems to be quite shabby and cheap, but it actually is one of the prettiest restaurants I've seen. The lightning there is very atmospheric, the windows are small and they're decorated with stained glass (paintings of old Turku). The chairs are amazing, really soft and massive in a romantic way. Food is great, the menu isn't too snobby. Plus, the bookcases rounding the walls give nice culturel vibes. I truly recommend that place for everyone.
(Though the waitress we had was a jackass. It was obvious he really didn't give a fuck. The only time he smiled was when we tipped him. Douchebag.)
We decided take a small walk after eating. The surrounding area of Aurajoki (the river Aura ^_^) is so beautiful in the summer. I love the huge trees and small boats and ships and the bridges crossing it.. The old buildings and the walls of stone.. There lives something old in cobblestones and trees, something ancient. Once again I started to wonder if I should apply for Turku Uni. *shrugs*
Well, anyway.
We were wandering quite randomly along the riverside. I was watching the passers-by, listening to dad teasing Katja when a tall blonde guy caught my attention. He seemed somewhat familiar and I was just pondering where I had seen him when Katja shrieked, 'Miska!' Huaah! He was just then by us, so of course he heard what Katha said. He turned to take a look at us and he had the funniest expression ever on his face. He saw two girls which were close to faint. When I was sure he couldn't hear us anymore I just couldn't stifle the fangirly squees anymore. My dad was staring at us like we were crazy when I and Katja squeled and GUHHHHHed and jumped up and down and sighed with joy. Yes, I've seen him many many times before and every time he makes me all weak and giddy. <3.
I tried to find new pics by googling. The catch isn't the most striking ever, but here's something anyway:
Teemu Aromaa and Miska.
Rillirousku. (I didn't go to see this one. Heinähattu and Vilttitossu and especially Miska received great reviews.)
I remember this one very well, one of the funniest plays I've seen in Vartiovuori. I wasn't a Miska-fan back then but I loved seeing Matti Ristinen live. :)
After this Miska-incident we headed to dad's appartment where Ritva uncorked a bottle of vine for us three. Paula pretty much disliked it so I and Katja had to take care of the bottle. Then we went to see The Da Vinci Code with Ritva.
I liked the actors a lot. Tom Hanks was quite handsome with the longer hair. Audrey Tautou was sweet, but once again I was distracted by the fake-sounding accent. Paul Bettany did a great job! His Silas was the true star of the film. I couldn't hate him, I was just feeling sorry for him. And when he died, I was a little pissed off. I don't know, perhaps I hoped someone could've "saved" him or something. Silas wasn't a bad guy, he was just a victim of the circumstances. Bettany portrayed him arrestingly. *hearts*
And Ian McKellen, omg, he's always so wonderful! I haven't read the book so I really didn't get McKellen's character's motives. Actually, the whole movie was a little confusing but I think if I saw it again I'd understand a whole lot more.
Ron Howard is too convenient as a director. This movie could've been edgier. Now.. well, it wasn't bad. It was addictive, I wanted to know how it was going to end and who was going to die, etc etc, but it wasn't good. Something was missing and I'm not quite sure what. Everything rolled smoothly, the actors were, as I already said, okay, but something bugged me. Duh. I guess seeing it does no harm. At least if you have popcorn.
The music! The music! Hans Zimmer! Hans bloddy Zimmer. Though the movie itself wasn't one of my all time favourites, I'm definitely going to buy the OST, in some point.
Okay, perhaps I found the movie more fun than it was intended to be. I blame the vine and my irresponsible daddy. ^__^
On Sunday I watched PotC with dad. He isn't into today's movie stars. They're "lacking charisma". Dad doesn't even know who Johnny Depp is. Once we went to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" with Ritva and after that dad asked us if it was good. I and Ritva started to drool over Johnny. Dad wrinkled his forehead and asked if he had seen Johnny somewhere. I picked up a telly magazine, showing a pic of Depp as Mort Rainey (Secret Window) and dad went all WTF. "Do you mean that man looking like a ponce?"
-.-'
Dude, srlsy. Johnny Depp and a ponce in one sentence??
Okay, after PotC he had to admit Johnny isn't a bad actor. (Though he hasn't given up on his ponce-statement. He can't understand why a pirate would wear a red scarf. Let's forgive him, he's an Errol Flyn -fan.) Dad also wants to see the sequel. That means, *drumming*, free movie tickets for me! *purring*
