What Valentines Day means

Feb 15, 2009 14:17

So much text about feeling the pressure for singles this Valentines Day has circulated around already these past few days prior to heart’s day. The joke, either you laugh or got irate with it, is just a knock on our head (?) or hearts (?).

Ethel Booba@ Laffline

When people ask me about how my love life lately was, I always gave them the same answer. As showbiz as it sounds, my reply was always, I am happy amidst my singleness. Call me a plastic but that is really what I meant. Having someone to love and who will love you back in return is heaven, that is, if the feelings are real. The logic here is simple; I don’t want to be with someone just because I felt pressured because of the spirit (?) of Valentines Day.

Eating out after the Laffline experience

Feeling so depressed on the night of February 10 after someone said he felt sorry after entrusting me with a secret, I texted my St. Luke’s buddies. Dennis replied saying the group should go out on Friday (February 13), in consideration for those in the group who have lovers. I agreed.

And so Friday came. After extending invitations to Mark and the gang, Jam and boyfriend, and to Cliff (who said he would join but later on did a no show act), only four of us went to Laffline (upon the taxi driver’s recommendation).

The group (KENDZ, BECCA, DENNIS, and ME, CHINZ later on joined us) sat near the stage after the two girls insisted on staying in front. The acts were cool and surely funny. Ethel Booba’s first number wearing a net is so like Rihanna. We were enjoying everything until the spotlight was turned on us. Ethel Booba asked me and Dennis to go on stage while Kendz and Becca cheered. We were seated on a pseudo lie detector test, only having the wire on our necks to serve as the leads. So much questions were ask until the kissing part took place that left the audience with so much laughter (I surely enjoyed the kiss with Lady Booba).

Anton Diva, the songbird with a bird as he labeled himself, enthralled the audience with his singing prowess. He sung “dadalhin” originally sung by Regine Velasquez upon request.

Also, Tuko later on showed up as the high tech mannequin doll made out of wood.

The finale was grand. All performers singing and dancing with those cool costumes mesmerized the audience. It was a blast, a wonderful experience.

My Valentines Day is a gem. Having some friends and some beer this valentines made me feel happy and contented about being single. I am glad I celebrated this year’s heart’s day with these amazing people. I am single and happy because it is my choice to be happy. Celebrating a fruitful Valentines Day either doing something new or something you do everyday depends solely on you, the important thing about it is that you had fun with the people you celebrated it with. The status part of Valentines Day is just a bonus. After all, Valentines means loving and being loved in return.
