this is the worst of the series. I almost quit reading here. I'm glad I didn't. It gets much better from here.

oh and they DID use this one on the shortlived tv series

the next one in the series, Grave Peril is very interesting. #4 is okay, #5 is good. #6 is probably the best of the series

The teenage werewolves come in handy later in the series. It varies, book to book; some of them, I think, why am I reading this? and others, I cannot go to sleep until 5 a.m. because I must finish the book in one reading. I think you'll very much like the later books, where he works more with such characters as the last Valkyrie, and he acquires an apprentice with whom to trade wisecracks.
