Soundtrack of my life
It's no secret that I'm a little strange. Let me share one of my peculiar quirks with you. Sometimes, when I'm going about my daily life, I like to imagine that I'm in a movie and that there's a soundtrack accompanying my movements(often this is what I am listening to on my ipod, but not always). Let me give you a few examples:
Walking Around:
For when I feel like I'm walking around with a total badass attitude. Bonus points if it's raining and I step through a puddle: Stray (Wolf's Rain opening)
For when I'm walking quickly, determined to get somewhere or accomplish an epic quest something: Robin Hood theme. Sea hawk theme. Captain Blood theme. Yes, I may secretly want to be a swash buckler. Shush.
Traveling:
The start of a journey. I also associate it with beautiful landscapes because, well, Miyazaki. This was definetly the background music of my life-movie when I was traveling through the Peruvian jungle, for example: One Summer's Day (Spirited Away)
This one is for a very particular moment in my life. When I left my small town in my little car and drove 3 hours to my undergrad. Living away from home for the first time, stretching my wings...you know. It was actually playing in my car at that time: Breakaway
Returning Home:
So, I'm from Kansas, not West Viriginia. But to get home I sometimes do drive down a series of dirt roads. So the chorus "Country roads, take me home to the place I belong..." Yeah. It gets me a little emotional: Country Roads
Perhaps it's because of what is going on in the movie at this point, (much like the other example from Spirited Away) but this song really makes me think of going home. A triumphant return, being so grateful to be back... I get a little homesick listening to it sometimes: Reprise (Spirited Away)
Exercise Montage:
And now for something a little more goofy. So, I'm exercising. I'm working on getting in shape. I'm making progress. What this needs is a song to integrate clips of me failing and then succeeding in my task! I have two proposals here: I'll Make a Man out of You (Mulan) and You're the Best Around (The Karate Kid)
