Well, I'm well and truly wary of this day, now. Wake up yet again to the building shaking and incredible noise from the dump trucks and plows digging layers of dirt off the empty lot across the street to form dikes along the top of the river bluff. Found out that Diana Wynne Jones succumbed to lung cancer today. And then had to scrub the stairs, hallway and landing of the building to get the mud out of the carpet. You know, world, this is supposed to be my restful day.

But, because I'm going to go out and vacuum the hall and landing later, I figured that I could make today's chore vacuum the apartment carpets. I think I'll stick to the main living areas for now... I need to get the window crank on the bedroom window fixed by management, and the laundry in there is sort of in the way of vacuuming. Another chore I need to take care of. Almost impossible to do on a Saturday, however, as this is when most everyone wants to do their laundry. So vacuuming the bedroom will have to wait. I'm hoping to get my bedframe up and the bed on it sometime this week as well. That would be nifty. Peachy keen, even.

Today's Task: Vacuum hallway and living room of apartment, and hallway and landing of building

Having obtained a functional television, pretty much whenever Matt's on the computer, I'm either reading or playing Persona 4. Bad Megan. No sweets. But I'm probably about halfway through the time line, which is nice. I've been putting off doing Rise's S-link, since her attitude just bothers the hell out of me. Too cheerful all the time, too focused on looks and sexuality. She always alludes to getting into the protagonist's pants and while I like sexual tension as much as the next person, it just gets cloying and irritating from her. Particularly since she pretty much always implies that she's the best match for the protagonist. It's like watching a miniature version of Kashiwagi.

Otherwise, I've finished painting (except for touch-ups) the newest book box, put the metal corner protector pieces on it, and the cameo is in its frame. A young woman, this time, with a bun in her hair. I located my digital camera the other day, so I'm hoping it takes better pictures than my phone, and hope to get some halfway decent shots to show. I haven't come up with a title for this one, yet. I'm trying to decide if I should continue putting them in foreign languages, or if they'd be more widely accepted in English. Also if they should be "interesting" titles or more "boring" titles. If a title is interesting, it's more likely to be picked up and looked at, giving the lie to the nature of the book in question. On the other hand, I think most of these are going to be more likely to be on display, so a boring title will be, well... boring. Anyway, this one is almost entirely finished. Just the title and sealing to do and then I can go pick up an appropriately sized box at the post office, wrap the book in bubble wrap, and see how much it weighs. I'm hoping to get a flat-rate box, because those are usually cheaper, but I'll have to inquire as to how that works if one is sending said box out of the United States.

I'm also considering making these as gifts for people for Christmas this year. So if that sounds like a good idea, family and friends, you should weigh in on these sorts of things. As well as colors you'd like to see and weather or not there should be fittings and such. /lack of subtlety

The Arthurian Knights had another session this week, culminating in being given hospitality in the castle of Hearne the Hunter, one of the most terrifying and rules-lawyering of the fey. It's going to be an... interesting time, getting out of his domain.

My outing for this week involved taking Kait, Matt and myself over to Target. On Monday Matt and I will take a walk, if the weather is nice. otherwise, driving will happen on Tuesday regardless, so we'll be out and about for a bit, anyway.

And now I should check the state of the hallway and landing.

saturday spectacle, imma knight!, artsy mess
