That is really a great idea, if she can afford such a set-up or already has one. When I built my current computer I made sure to have a digital audio output on it so I could easily do precisely this, since my receiver had a digital audio input I wasn't using.
not really, no. I have no clue what sound card you have, for one, which could matter when hooking the PC into the receiver. Also the set-up I've got was ridiculously cheap because I bought off of Amazon with a gift card I got after trading in hundred of dollars in loose change, It's a Sony similar to one several friends had and I liked. Since I had so much found money, I didn't pay attention to price, or shop around.
