I'm incredilby envious. My sister called me from the Caribbean the other day, saying they're done filming for the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' sequels. She met Johnny Depp, she says, but not Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightley. The closest she got to them was 10 feet away at some party they had.

Johnny Depp, however apparently was good friends with Marlon Brando, so he was interested in the Bounty because of Mr. Brando's role as Christian Fletcher in 'Mutiny on the Bounty' that the ship was built for. They gave him one of the original belaying pins, and she said he seemed very happy to have that. I think it was a very nice gesture.

She told me she hopes Bounty gets a lot of screen time in the films. They had other ships there that weren't filmed on nearly as much. She had to wear a costume every day with a long~sleeved shirt & jacket & a hat, as well as makeup. She took her jacket & hat off a lot because it was so hot, but when they were about to film, she'd be told by the costume people to get all her 'bits' on. She then spent hours climbing up & down the rigging & furling & loosing sails. It's a lot of work, but still, I certainly would have liked an opportunity to do something like that.

I originally joined the crew of the Bounty with the hopes that I'd get to. If not movies, at least sail to more tropical, non~U.S. waters. I spent over a year on board, and there were talks of going to Cuba at one point. I even almost hoped we'd accidentally wind up in Bermuda when our engines died on the way to Key West and we were set to drift wherever the wind blew. We never did. I'm grateful for all the places I did get to go & see, and I'm glad I sailed, but, ooh I'm so jealous!
