Ignorance is definitely bliss
On Monday, the weather in Reading wasn't nearly as bad as it was in the rest of the country - wet and miserable but that's all. Luckily, I was sufficiently busy that I didn't read about the storms until I looked at a free paper on Tuesday morning...on the plane to Aberdeen. And the Trent and Mersey has burst its banks in Middlewich.
Down our end of town, the flood meadow is doing its job; Witton Brook has overflowed onto it but that's what it's for. The geese are poddling about, loving it. There's good reason I live this end of town.
Very glad your trip was a safe one though, it's been a bit rough out there.
