It's 1:30am, and I am watching music videos on MTV.
Maroon 5 "This Love"
If you've seen the video, you know that it includes the singer rolling around on a bed with a topless model, and they fondle and fuck.
I watch many videos, I've seen this one more than few times.
Yet, somehow, this time it looked different. What was it? Oh yeah!
This time, it had an endless stream of floating flowers moving around the screen, covering the two lovers whenever they were getting it on.
I don't remember this. Not only do I not remember it from early viewings on MTV, but I don't recall seeing it on VH1 -- WHEN IT AIRED TWO MINUTES EARLIER.
I grew up watching MTV. I grew up watching videos get riskier.
Now VH1 -- which was created for an older demographic, and is now the pop culture network -- is more explicit and "on the edge" than MTV.
Pathetic.
