This past week the children's ministry at my church went down to Kids-A-Flame camp in bradenton. we took about 40 kids [chaperones included] and im still in absolute awe of all that happened while we were there.
The whole theme of the week was Rise to the Call.
Rise to the call.. what a perplexing statement.
its amazing how often we ignore opportunities to bless others, and during the lesson part of the services we learned how to answer those calls in our lives to do or go after whats right and necissary.
responsiblity. rights and responsibility go hand in hand. the more responsible you are, the more rights you receive; in the same way, the more rights you receive, the more responsiblity you take on. dont expect one without the other. THE BEST WAY to keep yourself as responsible as possible is to keep your promises [Mt 5:37]; not make up excuses for failing to fulfill a responsibilty, do all your work to the best of your ability [1Co 10:31], and make things right when they go wrong [Pastor Sylvia Ragsdale].
initiative. recognize and do what needs to be done without being told to do so in order to bless others. THE BEST WAY to make sure you always take the initiative in every situation is to not put off until tomorrow the things that can be done today, do what is right before being told, contribute to the success of others, be apart of the solution rather than part of the problem, and constantly be on the lookout for ways to help others. God is looking for people who are willing to see what needs to be done and DO IT so that he can bless them in return! [Pastor Sharon Minor]
self-control. Proverbs 25:28 "a person without self-control is as defenseless as a city with broken down walls". THE BEST WAY to practice self control IN EVERY SITUATION YOU GET YOURSELF INTO is to not act impulsively [think before you do something, ask yourself "what will come out of this?"], not equate desires with rights [never mistake rights with the desires of your heart (Gal 5:13)], set your own boundaries! [that way, before anything can happen, you will know what you'll do or not do (Phil 4:8)], and walk away from things are NOT RIGHT (Rm 16:19)! [Pastor Sheila Delcastillo]
endurance. the act of handling hardships or stress to persevere and last! Romans 5:4 says "endurance develops strength in character". if you want your endurance to grow so that you will be able to stand strong and come out ontop in any situation is to STAY AWAY from things that tempt you. Hebrews 10:36 "patient endurance is what you need, so you will continue to do God's will". James 1:4 "for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in charater and ready for anything"! [our children's pastor Dean Giancola]
During one of the night services, Pastor Eddie Taylor spoke about finding your calling.
needless to say, his lesson captured everyone's attention. just about EVERYONE is searching after one thing: their purpose; and Eddie talked about finding our calling and going after it with full heart.
*Keys to knowing your calling:
+look in your own heart- [Proverbs 4:23]
What would you do for God if you could do it with no flaws?
+bear witness- follow and learn from those who are living out a calling similar to yours. "serve the anointing you want to receive"; "get desperate for the things of God!"
+notice the needs- realize what makes you sad and upset, harness that compassion, and CHANGE IT!!
+prophetic glimpses
+how do people react- know differences between wishes &visions. God will make a way for you to fit into your calling!
+YOU ARE WHAT YOU DO!!
+prophetic ministry
"God will consider you worthy of his calling!" -Thessalonians 1:11
God moved SO POWERFULLY this week..
i learned a lot about myself and what im supposed to be doing with my life.
i have this new approach to life; i call it take-it-all-in. i'm starting to notice all the little things in the world that God has made and set so intricately in place. from the complex way tree trunks can wrap around one another and intertwine their roots, to the tiniest yellow butterfly floating so carelessly.. yet so beautifully through the air.
its amazing to take a deep breath and inhale God's Glory.
its amazing.
this week was truly amazing.
