The Lilacs are out...

I haven't really woken up today yet. My eyes are open and I am typing this, this is a start. I have been incredibly lazy about typing in here. Every once in a while I have to find a scrap of paper and just write, the computer is not always there. I have a love hate relationship with my big white box of wires and electricity.

This weekend I took off Saturday from work. One day I hope to only have a four day work week, It will be bad for the bank account but I feel saner and more in control of my life and time when there is more of it.  Ted and I weeded and planted some of the seedlings that we started inside. Five pumpkin plants, five sunflowers, seven snowpeas and a tiny plot of beets. Ted has what he thinks are Chinese greens, and some grapes growing. I really love gardening, this is my first year actually doing it, but I have always been envious of those that do; Jeremy and Terran, not to mention the multitude of beautiful houses and gardens around me.

Saturday I went to the CAP Auction. My piece didn't sell ( Ted is going to hang it in his office) so I have it back. It was a fun event. I saw a couple people I knew. Not many and I can't say besides Ted, I didn't really spend any meaningful time with anyone. Towards the end of the night after a bottle of wine I did dance with Martha which was fun, but the night was pretty much over so we went home soon after. I liked seeing March Fourth again. It really isn't an art event without them. They bring out a childlike awe in their patrons when they play, its fun to watch.

Sunday was beautiful and really wonderful, once I was over my hangover. Ted and I had lunch at Mudai's. Ethiopian food is so yummy. We did an exquisite corpse while we waited. Ted is bashful about his own skill, but everything he added to the drawing made me giggle. Definitely going to keep that one. We walked down to the Stumptown Comics Fest. I basically bought my weight in comics (only slightly exaggerating) there was so much good stuff. Next year I want to make it to some of the panels. I gave out my card to some folks, and picked up some from others. Steve Leiber drew me a sketch of his character from his graphic novel. It was very random but I loved it. I talked to this one guy about a place called the independent publishing resource center in downtown portland. I'm very interested in checking that out. Its fifty-five dollars for the year. If it would give access to Indesign and maybe some other programs it is definitely be worth it. Not to mention they give workshops in letter press and some other things. I'm going to scout it out next week. Once home, Ted took a nap in the backyard while I sketched him. Then we played boggle. I'm really into boggle right now.

In the past month the stars have aligned and Carolina and I were able to art jam twice. I'm going to go work on my painting some more  in my backyard. I love weekends.
