100 Years Ago Today in SF

Today is the anniversary of the big earthquake and resulting fires that devastated San Francisco in 1906. The newspapers and radio have been doing stories on it for the past couple of weeks. My favorite (and really only) story I read was about how the government sent in hundreds of cooks and set up huge kitchens to cook for people. Amazing!

There is a big parade scheduled today in downtown and the lucky San Franciscans finally have some sun for the festivities. Maybe the two months of rain they've been having here is finally about over...

I'm headed over to Oakland today to spend some time with my friend Samira, who just got her tonsils removed yesterday. I'm staying at her place in May until I go to Seattle. Yippee!

Still waiting to hear about the job at Mills. Started researching massage license requirements in Oakland, in case I decide to that part-time. I have to get a permit from the Sheriff, including submitting fingerprints! I hate the connection massage has in some places with law enforcement, rather than health care. Guess I could look on the bright side and enjoy that I can open up my very own Massage Parlor if I want.
