While killing time on the bus, I'm going to ramble about things I'd like to do this year, so hopefully I can look back and use it as motivation or something. This list may get long. It's an "Ideal" list, and that's okay.
I think I can break things into categories, but we'll see...
Health
go swimming at least 1xweek. (step 1 - get new swimsuit! Maybe next week Wednesday. Though maybe I should just go tomorrow afternoon.)
hiking! The Hiking Club didn't go last year. So I think we'll get one of the park passes and share with Dave & Alana. I think I'll also try to scheduling a hike for one Sunday morning every month starting in April. If it's in the calendar, I imagine I'll be more likely to do it.
Run a 5-10K at some point in the late summer/early fall.
Reason: I happened to lose weight last year by changing how I ate, and I plan on sticking to that adjustment. I need to work on building muscle definition now and burning some extra calories and I think this might help.
Travel
Hawaii is on the wishlist! And on the bucket list. Ruth and I were ahead of this curve, making one when we were mid-teens. Some of it I've had to let go as it's not important to me anymore, but other stuff, mostly travel, remains.
There are lots of places I'd like to go. Conferences this year are in Vancouver and Louisiana; can only do 1, if any, but I think going is important professionally.
I'd also like to see areas around Southern Ontario that I haven't yet. I'd like to hike the Hell Holes and see the caves (off the 401 on the way to Kingston). I think the hiking plan will help with this more.
Kimono

learn to sew kimono. In progress! A TKC member is teaching me on Thursdays when I am downtown. I'm starting with yukata and then will attempt my poly komon on my on, most likely - though maybe not, as I'd like it to be half-lined, and I don't know how to sew lining.
Have more TKC events than before. So far, off to a good start. Working on a calendar helped me, but I need to publish it still.
General
watch all the un-watched movies we own. Then decide if they're worth keeping or not.
Read the un-read books and make the same decision (though likely more ruthlessly).
donate blood regularly. Already on this one! Donated in Jan and have an appointment in March.
Paint the tea hutch and get it out of the garage - colour is picked out. Just need nice weather, so this won't happen until spring.
complete 2 online learning courses
finally CERTIFY in my field. Requires a lot more dedication than I've been putting to it, but I got a notebook and brought a text home so I'm going to get started! Not sure of the best way to do it, but I'll just read and notetake and do what works for me. I may be boring some weekends/evenings as they fill with study, especially nearing exam time (Aug/Sept).
try and win stuff! I'm entering contests again, and have already won two, probably valued at about $400. I don't have Sara's luck, though, but I'll see what comes up. It's not stressful so it doesn't add anything bad to my day and so far the return is decent (though if I had to do it as a value vs hourly rate, probably not at this point).
Reconnect with people. Probably through FB. Old pen-pals and coworkers and such. So we'll see how that goes.
Write a will! Ohh, so grown-up!
Get my first aid certificate. Just cuz I think I should have it. I enjoyed first aid the times I did take it.
Sewing
lots of unfinished projects... I was hoping to do one a week, but I don't because the space isn't clean. So I have to work on that, first. Costume wise the priority might be the Shinigami... I won't have anything new for CostumeCon. But maybe I'll finish a Shinigami for Otakuthon in August... lol (it's only been 18 months... of mostly stale "progress"). Gotta make the space welcoming so that I feel inclined to go work down there. It lacks a TV so it's not as appealing as upstairs, as I liked to work with something on. I guess I can netflix on my laptop.
Trying not to let this become a 'to-do' list...haha! Trying to focus on the cool things I'd like to do this year instead, the things I'd be excited to talk about. If you see any you'd like to join in on or help with, let me know!
