Cat-Sitting Adventure Day 2
Well, given Day 1, I sort of expected Gypsy to not want to see us or care that we were there, but maybe the time alone got to her, and she when we were in the house, she immediately flopped over and allowed us to pet her and she started purring in no time.

She didn't care about running around or away or anything and just wanted the attention. It was quite the switch! Didn't get the "what have you done to my owners?!" cold shoulder, just pure "omg, I want attention" behaviour. Sunny didn't pet her much - he said "You seemed sad yesterday when she didn't want you to pet her". Fine with me - I got some kitty cuddles and she got attention and the one with some allergies didn't get covered in cat hair.

Sunny also had to free a plastic bag from the Roomba. He did that while I entertained the cat, fed the turtle and the fish, and cleaned the litter box. I'm not entirely sure what happened, but it seemed the Roomba mulched that bag pretty good. He also filled her food dishes.

We were able to just leave again; she didn't follow us to the door and stayed in the kitchen.

Cat-Sitting Adventure day 3
We had houseguests the other night, so I brought one with me to check on Gypsy. She doesn't have a pet at the moment either, and really missed having animal cuddles, so it seemed a win-win for Gypsy and houseguest.

Gypsy didn't run to the door this time, either, but she was acting like she hadn't seen anyone in a week and wanted lots of rubbies. I also found her harness (took me a few minutes to figure out how to put it on her -I had to close the loops before I realized how it went on), didn't have to fight her to put it on (she purred the whole time) and we went out in the backyard for a bit. While Gypsy prowled the fence, ate the grass, and chirruped at the birds, we chatted and just enjoyed being out in the sun. Gypsy really didn't want to go back inside after about 15-20 minutes, so I had to scoop her up and carry her back in.

Houseguest came downstairs to see the turtle and the fish, and to just admire the house (as I do every time I'm over there). She tried to get Gypsy to play with some toys as I did the litter and fed her, but Gypsy was content to be petted. We made our escape when Gypsy decided to run downstairs.

Um, we did indulge in some Mini Eggs that were out on the island, though. Om nom.

Cat-sitting Adventure Day 4
Headed over about noon today. I'm getting much better at opening and locking the door - I have learned the little trick of the door/lock to get it to work smoothly. I was alone today as Sunny left this morning.

Gypsy was at the door - she may have heard the car, or maybe the key in the lock. I had some sort of fear that I hadn't locked it yesterday, but it was locked (whew), so that might have been what Gypsy heard. I had to shoo her back with my purse, and once I was in she immediately ran to the patio door to go out, but I wanted to take care of the turtle and fish first, so I went downstairs first. Naturally, Gypsy ran ahead of me and sped down the stairs to the door on that level, thinking we'd go outside there (haha, nope).

Since it was nice out Gypsy didn't get that much time outside yesterday, I put on an audiobook and spent 40-60 mins with her on the harness outside. She prowled the fence, ate some grass, and found a few spots to just lie and sun herself. It was a nice lazy hour in the sun, including a little wave from the neighbour. Though after they came outside, Gypsy ran to the basement door, then slunk away to the other side of the house (well, as best she could on a 1m leash & harness). I couldn't hear a lawnmower, but she was obviously a bit out-of-sorts, so I led her toward the stairs, which she actually ran up this time, and entered the house without issue.

Gypsy seemed very lazy and content from her time outside, so I unharnessed her, then went to find the Roomba, which was on the charging dock. I hope it leaves if it's supposed to, but I really have no idea how that thing works.

I did the litter box, and then just walked around the house and waited in the kitchen to see if she wanted something or more attention, but she just lazed about on the rugs, so I made my exit. She didn't run to the door or anything - just watched me leave.

I feel bad that she got a bit spoiled with all the outside time today, but she's not going to get any tomorrow, so I guess that's okay. I can't tell what she's thinking, but I hope she doesn't lose this "I like you! you're giving me food and rubs!" thing once her momma and pappa return. XD

In non-kitty news, helped J do a bit of packing, and returned to type this, watch America's Next Top Model, do laundry, and dishes. Gotta get something done today! I did sleep until 11am, so I have a feeling I'll be up a bit late.

Since getting home around 730pm-8ish:
  • 2 loads of laundry, washed and folded and put away
  • 2 loads of dishes
  • weekly pill pack prepped
  • cheque written, envelope addressed, ready to go
  • posted the above (i.e. caught up on the cat-sitting stories)
  • posted on cosplay.com masquerade thread
  • dinner! yum yum
  • phone call with in-laws
  • watched ANTM (2 eps) and 1 of Dragon's Den
  • chatted with Naomi re: IG stuff
  • caught up with LJ posts for the past few days

    Grateful 5
    1. That I could help a friend with some of her moving stuff.
    2. That I have a vehicle with which to get around the city. Makes getting around much easier.
    3. For sun shining today so that I could spend some time outside with the kitty.
    4. That I was dropping off Kia, meaning I was close to Ajisen, so that's where I went for dinner. Tom Yum Beef Teppanyaki ramen. Yum yum.
    5. That I got to sleep more after dropping off Sunny this morning; I slept until 11am. Because of it, I was able to be productive after getting home.
