Fellow graduates:
This special graduation day deserves something very exceptional; therefore, in our honor, I have written a poem to encourage us on our way.
We have gone to school for at least 13 years.
In that time we have overcome many of our fears.
Each of us has changed in his or her own special way,
I guess that's one thing we can celebrate today!
We have developed perseverance, study habits, and sleepless
nights;
We have created amazing late night projects, and witnessed
irrational fights.
We can quote too much work of Shakespeare's;
And we know too much of the lives of many of our peers.
We started this journey of school at its best
In the 1990's-1993 was when we took our first test.
Was that our first crush?
Gross-- who believes in all that mush?
Through boyfriends and girlfriends, or lack thereof,
We all know what its like to be lost- then found in love.
Well, not really all of us, but many I'd say..
Okay, so one or two; but to them, who can relate?
Now it is all over, who knows if we will meet again?
Some of you think: "Not by the hairs on my chinny-chin-chin!"
But, wait just a moment, can I throw out there this:
The people you are surrounded by have provided your bliss.
They have been there when you did not feel like moving on,
They have been there to help you sing your favorite song.
They have been there so that you could have that late night study;
They have been there to assist, or just to be your best buddy.
The memories we have made in more than just the last decade
Are to be enjoyed, pondered on, and of course never fade.
Our class has stuck together;
We have been strong through the rough weather.
If nothing else, we must remember to stay sure
But not be completely wrapped up in always wanting more.
Stay teachable;
Always reachable.
Do not be afraid to question what you have always been taught;
Dig deeper, search harder for the truth, whether you think it
necessary or not.
They say we do not know all.
Wish I had known walking down C-Hall
That all this time going to school,
Certainly makes me no less of a fool!
Rely on your parents' money as long as you can;
Do not murder or get arrested or be involved in illegal plans.
Our generation- us sitting right here-
Will find the cure for cancer, stupidity, and fear!
To end on a note that is neither happy nor sad;
I'd like to point out that we should really be glad.
I'll leave you with this:
Each of you will be missed-
But hey, let it go! WE'RE THE CLASS OF OH-SIX! Congratulations and Thank You. God Bless and TOUCHE!
hope its enjoyed. love.
