quite possibly the most interesting and intellectually stimulating website i've ever been to...
http://www.wefeelfine.org basically it searches the blogs of everyone from around the world for the lines "i feel" or "i am feeling", records that sentence to the period, and does an innumerable amount of things with it. data is recorded by classification of weather, age, gender, feeling, city... all the sentences are then organized into six different types of "movements", all of which are essentially different ways of displaying the feelings (but they are all equally amazing). my personal favorite is Murmurs. you can search for, if you so please, any men in their 40s who have been feeling erotic in a cloudy Austin Texas within the last hour. there are even colors assigned to each feeling, which you'll notice if you go to the website... i'm assuming that red is generally angry, yellow for happiness, blue for sadness, etc. if you want to see how much work actually goes into this site, check out this:
http://www.wefeelfine.org/data/files/feelings.txt . it's a hand-picked list of emotions with corresponding colors, and the total number of that emotion.
it really gets you thinking about the sheer amount of people who use blogs on the internet (yes, livejournal does count, and yes, you have probably been recorded before) and all the ways we similarly express ourselves. it's not that different when you get down to it - everyone who uses a blog is generally in an emotional fluster. not necessarily in a bad way, though - it might please you to know that "i feel better" is winning over "i feel bad" at the moment i'm looking at the site. anyway, i think it's personally one of the most impressive and thought productive ideas for a website i've seen in a very long time. you should probably check it out.
p.s. i am feeling flabbergasted
EDIT: if this website has brought concern to your little noggin about your private feelings and angsts towards the world, you can make your post invisible to the feeling search by putting this: <"script">nofeelings<"/script"> in your post somewhere, sans quotes
EDIT again: angela murfin feels sorry for all the fuckin losers that are staying in MI... nichole feels she is going to lose the voice shes worked for over the years... elena feels "rather inadequate"...
pretty amazing, no?
although some of these are kind of old
