Victorian Torchwood - snow day sewing

Feb 02, 2009 19:46

With having an unexpected day at home, I have pushed on a bit.

I put the ruffle onto the petticoat to finish that off,

then sewed darts into the shirt.

I bought the shirt, but reshaped the collar and figured out the darts by hand.

Then I made up the skirt in sheeting material so I can check the fit. I just love Victorian tailoring. Oh yes, I have a tie now as well.

Tomorrow, as the school is closed again, I shall try and get the jacket sorted and fitted. Hopefully, these two unexpected days will mean that I am not rushing during half-term.

I also think I might be able to manage with the material I have. When I bought it, I didn't have the skirt pattern, so had the guess the amount. I can save yardages by using the sheeting material for things that don't show, like the pocket and the hem facing.
