Paris has been rainy and gloomy ever since I arrived here Sunday night. I keep hoping that a minuscule ray of sun will peek through the grey clouds, but in vain because it doesn’t seem like it’s promising even a tiny glimpse of light. With this somber atmosphere it feels like one is treading through a million Charles Baudelaire poems with every step one takes.
But at least I have Nick’s company to make my stay here more pleasing. Speaking of pleasing things, Jay came to see me on Monday and is staying here for a few days. I'm attempting to show him around the city a bit, taking him to see less conventional tourist areas, like seeing Pigalle, the ex-red district area in Paris, which is still rather amusing to visit because of all the ex-whore houses that today are used as hotels. I also took him to see Jim Morrison’s grave, since I promised to show him that. It's nice being able to see him again, since the last time I saw him was more than six months ago. I think we spent a good portion of Monday hugging one another cos we still couldn't believe that we were together.
A mate of mine suggested that I should go to Echelle de Jacob, so since they’re only opened on Wednesdays, I’ll be going there tonight with Nick and Jay. I hope they find erotic cabaret or “zon erotikon” as some call it, entertaining, because seeing that all the French I know I learned from listening to Serge Gainsbourg songs, I don’t think that my French vocabulary is appropriate anywhere else.
If either Mr. Molko or Jon was around I’d take them to the Pink Paradise where for 5.32 euros you can get a lapdance from ex-Bluebell girls, how charming, right? And while I’m on the subject of dancers, I finally watched Titus which reminded me of why it’s one of my favourite Shakespearean tragedies, but it also made me realise that if Jon ever decides to stop being actor he’d have a bright career as a club dancer in Ibiza (after pulling off those drugged-esque dance moves in the film). Don’t you think?
I have another week and a half to stay here, hopefully the sun will decide to come out one of these days, although I won’t be counting on it.
