I don’t know whether it’s just me but I have this feeling that everyone has abandoned their journals lately…..or maybe I’m the one who has abandoned mine. I haven’t really been avoiding it, it’s just that I’ve been so busy. All these new shows and concerts that I seem to be hosting left and right. It can get quite exhausting.
The other night I happened to watch The Graduate on TV. I don’t know what it is about that film that always compels me to watch it till the very end. Perhaps because my favourite scene in the film is the very end. There’s something about Dustin Hoffman’s character that barges into the church where the one he loves has already gotten married to another man and he’s able to “rob” her away from everyone where they end up running away together leaving everything and everyone behind. I simply adore that scene. I like to imagine something similar happening to me but it’s a ridiculous thought because for one, I highly doubt that I’ll ever get close to getting married and for two, of all the blokes I know, I highly doubt anyone would barge in the middle of the wedding and “save” me. But nonetheless it’s still an exciting thought.
The other day when I went to a Sanrio store I happened to see Hello Kitty condoms. That reminded me of when Johnny Greenwood said that they also have Hello Kitty vibrators. I’ve been secretly skeptical about this, until I came across them myself. There’s just something wrong about seeing Hello Kitty’s face plastered on anything that’s sex related especially since when I think about Hello Kitty it reminds me of my daughter who has her face plastered all over her shirts, purses, pencils, and bookbag. If they ever make a Spongebob or Barbie vibrator or condoms, then we’ll know for sure we’ve gone too far.
Anyhow…I’ve made a nifty list of films I should try to watch while I have my four day holiday (yes only four days!). So far I’ve got Closer, cos that film looks really interesting and besides with Jude Law and Natalie Portman in it, it can’t possibly be a bad film, The Grudge, cos I’ve gotta keep up with my viewing of horror films and Sarah Michelle Gellar is cool, Alexander, cos apart from having Jonathan, Jared Leto, and Colin Firth in the film which are already three good reasons to go watch it, I happened to find out that my favourite model and ex-lover Raz Degan has a part in the film as the King Darius, so of course that gives me much more initiative to go see it, although I have no grand expectation from the film cos as Raz said, “Jared Leto and Colin Firth are too virile to be portrayed as lovers in a film.” And I agree, and Eros cos it’s a film that’s made up of three mini-films that explore the theme of erotica. Is there another film I should be aware of and go see?
EDIT: Apparently I'm having another one of my dyslexic lapses, I was talking about Colin Farrel NOT Colin Firth above, so I have NO idea why I made that mistake. Perhaps some good Freudian psychologist out there will be able to explain this mystery to me.
