OK, I've been away from this for entirely too long. Caught up on some friends' posts, so that was good. The internet's not so bad...

The parathesia has stayed away, ever since the fall early this summer where I crashed into the coat rack, and sprained my ankle. The ankle's healed, and this is the best I've felt physically in a while. Yeah, I still have the fibro, and the arthritis in the spine, but those are manageable. It's nice having a bit more energy, as well as more mobility.

Today was kind of interesting. I had a funeral this morning, and the organist spaced on the time, not getting there until after the readings were done. This meant I ended up both playing and singing the processional song, the psalm, and the Gospel acclamation. I was pleasantly surprised to find that despite being sick all week (which meant no practicing), everything was working. EXCEPT for the main organ keyboard, which was sounding horribly flat. Fortunately this still left me with two usable keyboards. Later I found out the windbox, where the air from the bellows is build up in order for the organ to sound, had effectively blown a gasket. Fortunately, duct tape has served as a temporary solution, until the leather binding can be replaced.

After that, I drove back home, picked up a friend, and drove him up past Concord to pick up a car that his aunt was letting him have. For Free. It works too. The trip up got slowed down due to an accident (looked like everyone was OK), but the trip back, which Google maps said would take 70 minutes, took me 51. I like tailwinds.

That got me back with 20 minutes to spare before I had to leave again to conduct the choir at 4 PM Mass. That takes a lot of energy, since I'm not one to stand still and just flutter my hands at people. Yeah, I'm one of those conductors that dances and moves all over to make sure I have people's attention. I really enjoy it, too. Not bad for somebody who failed conducting class the first two times.

So now I'm home, in my comfy pjs, relaxing in my easy chair (aka "the throne"), and listening to my daughter-in-law and her best friend singing bubblegum pop songs from when I was half their age. Now, if we could only get Karl a job, life would be all good.
