I hate the pain. But more than the pain, I hate what it does to me. It keeps me from exercising so I can lose weight (dieting alone doesn't work for me). It keeps me from doing more than a couple of things in a day. Good luck if you want clean laundry AND clean dishes. It puts a burden on my husband to take up the slack, since standing to cook ( Read more... )

what is going on?
this journal entry made me wince because I could have written it myself in the last 2 years...all except for the good husband part :=)

I remember looking at my Mom in awe and thinking "HOW does she do the dishes AND the laundry and cook and not get sore, tired, ...etc"

well. I'm now able to do more, but I know exactly how you feel. What is the source of your pain? I am so sorry you're going through this. :( you're not alone...

and I'm so glad you have wonderful people around you to hold you up when you feel like you can't bear it.

much love.

doctors...I have utterly lost any faith I was ever inclined to put in doctors. I don't know what they teach them in school, but it's not got much to do with the human body...or with LISTENING to their patients, and making astute deductions. I have seen more doctors jump to the wildest conclusions...it is really scary.

I hope you have a good doctor near you. or at least one who listens to you.

Ha, you've asked the $64,000.00 question. Nobody seems quite sure. I do have spinal arthritis, and a couple of bulging disks in my neck, but nobody seems sure about what's going on. I may take a page out of your book and consult with an acupuncturist. They seem to have a better understanding of body mechanics than most doctors.

I knew you were one person who would understand exactly how I feel. You are one of the friends who has helped me hold up, mostly through sharing your own struggles with pain. I'm sorry you've had so much to deal with yourself, but your sharing and understand have been a big part of me not feeling alone. I don't believe in reincarnation, but if I did, I would swear we were sisters in a former life.

Thanks for being you, and for your friendship.

Oh, we're quite familiar with referred pain. I have a chronic cramp under my shoulder blade that presents as tingling or pain in my wrist, simulating carpal tunnel syndrome. I was lucky to find a massage therapist who dealt with that handily.

Pretty much all of elennar's current maladies are referred symptoms as well, though the precise source of only one has been pinpointed, by the success of the cortisone injection whose effects are now fading away. Our chiropractor has massage therapists and an acupuncturist sharing his office, so it will be convenient to try those here. This is also the same chiropractor who spotted the anomalies in her MRI results before the doctor who ordered it did, so the possibility of success with that team is high, in my not so humble opinion.
