I started out the day much like yesterday: sitting at the airport on call. We worked a leg to LaGuardia, then deadheaded back to Atlanta (meaning we were included on the manifest of working crew, but sat in customer seats), only to deadhead up to Baltimore. Myself and the rest of my LGA crew are sitting on call here in Baltimore for the next two days, which means one thing: crew hibernation.

Not everyone likes our crew room here in BWI (that's the Baltimore airport code - it's easier to type). There are no TVs, no internet access, and no windows. It sits on ground level near an outside exit, so it can get quite cold. But there are extremely comfortable couches, and the noise level doesn't get too terribly loud.

A few months ago, I did this same on call trip, and one of the FAs with us had never sat in BWI. I took him down to the crew room and claimed a couch. He looked around and said, "What do you do down here? It's like a cave!"

I said, "Exactly. This is what you do." And I pulled out a travel blanket and a t-shirt to put my head on and went to sleep.

It's not the BWI crew room, but when I'm not flying, this is what I usually see:

(Yes, those are my feet. I get a huge kick out of walking around at work with no shoes on.) (Also, it's way more comfortable to sit around for eight hours not wearing heels.)
