Shopping Week Post of Progress-ness:
- I'm taking 5 classes. I'll probably die.
- Italian, which is an intro language class. Generally manageable
- Ec 10, also quite simple. Was disturbed today when my new section leader basically implied that we don't have to come to class.
- Expos: Home and Homeland: Family and Nation in Victorian Britain. So what would have made me go crazy like 2 years ago. Still interesting, but not quite as cool as Tolstoy and Chekhov, which was my first choice. But our main text is Jane Eyre, which means that the first bit of the class shouldn't be too bad, considering I read it last year.
- Harvey Mansfield's History of Modern Political Philosophy, insane but really useful. Reading pretty much everyone from Machiavelli to Nietzsche, and will make me insane.
- Medieval Europe. With a focus on medieval archaeology. Reading primary sources. Really enthusiastic, incredibly knowledgeable and adorable professor, who has Skype hours in addition to regular office hours. My drug this semester?
- Also I may be adding a ridiculous number of activities. Like maybe tutoring kids in music (or even normal tutoring, maybe) and also *maybe* comping the Crimson ed board. Would I be a good editorial writer? Or would I hate it because it's too newsy and... opinionated?
- Went by the WorldTeach office today and got to talk to the Poland guy. Good sign = he seemed excited that I was applying, which may suggest that there aren't too many other applicants? Really, really hoping Ms. Eagan hasn't lost the rec form or something or has forgotten about me. Because I really, REALLY want to do this this summer. And it ends in mid-August, so time for backpacking around Central Europe afterwards before school starts? YES?
- Amazed at the fact that Dean Cooper still hasn't replied to my email begging him to sign my study card because my advisor conveniently went to India without telling me and won't be back for another week. Maybe he's in China or something?
- Sometimes I suddenly remember why kisses are so incredible. It's kind of amazing how much meaning can lie behind just one. Is seeing Shai way too much these days a bad thing?
