hair is turning into straw, mind into chaff

So... Gettysburg. Girls lost by 8 or 9 points, guys won by one. Exciting meet.
I slept for more than 16/24 hours before it; at babysitting, during practice time, actually sleeping. Got in the water Sat morning, was more exhausted by walking to breakfast and having to eat than by the swimming (or the swimming just took a bit to catch up...)

Woke up, wandered back down to the pool, warmed up again, still felt pretty nasty (didn't actually hurl, but there was that lovely throwing up in the back of your mouth feeling to warmup... could have been that I just wasn't eating enough to hurl. Interesting idea...)

1000: actually pretty good. 11:05/7/something around there. Close to my best. Got outtouched by half a second; but I had started out pretty slow and snuck up on her, so that was (kind of) ok. Anne tells me she was outtouched by about the same amount last year, and thus I should carry a burning passion to beat her for the next time we swim. i don't remember her name. So.

500: ewewewewew. I hit the invisible wall and it wouldn't let me through. (In the 1000, the pain stopped, or at least leveled off, in the 500, it did not)

400 free relay: eh. I swam it. 59 & change split. not wonderful.

and then I got to go out to dinner with my family and babysit a spec. I played 2 new drinking games last night - one with white grape juice, and the other with water. Both pretty dumb... flipcup & King's cup. Huzza. Thus, I have an engin problem set and a whole lot of reading and, oh yeah, I get to entertain my spec until noon, and I'm guarding for 3 hours today. Huzza.

400 free relay, babysitting, guarding, 1000, engin, ill, 500, education, alcohol
