I think the people who don't want kids aren't a monolith, though they probably have some of the same experiences re: telling people they don't want kids and so get grumpy on the Internet in some of the same ways.
I know/know of people who don't want to pass on their genes for ethical/medical reasons, people who don't think they'd be good parents for mental health/financial reality/whatever reasons, people who aren't good with kids and don't think they'll magically get better at it when the kids are their responsibility, people whose life goals involve influencing more people in broader or different ways than if they focused that energy on a family.
I will probably spawn but there are a lot of things I need to do first to feel responsible enough, and also things that scare me about being a hetero woman with kids (either with a partner- b/c so many assumed gender roles to negotiate and probs also emotional aftermath of divorced parents- or without- because being a single mother is very very hard.)
But wanting to teach your particular small human things and share the world with them does sound appealing.
