I find it vaguely amusing that I'm only posting when I've just come back from a) swing or b) swimming. It's the first one this time around.
My sleep schedule needs to go back to being regular... slept til 11 Wed and Fri, but I can't do that on Thurs, and Sat morning I had to get up at 7:00.
Which is part of the problem. Bus leaves at 8:15, first away meet of the season, Cas wants us to swim out ahead of time. Good idea? Yes. Good idea for 6:30 in the morning, when people have been out and about the night before? (People don't drink - or usually don't drink - the night before a meet, preferably also that Thursday, but people do go to, say, the Yellow Stocking Player's rendition of The Winter's Tale, which was fantastic but let out at 11, and then try to catch up on NANO. Or at least I do.)
Needless to say, I was grumpy when I woke up. Went down to the pool, grabbed everything that I might need out of my locker, hopped in for a bit, ran to Sharples, got on the bus on time. Sat next to Steph, zoned out on the bus ride over. They put in Kill Bill. Honestly? I don't do all that well with gratuitous gore. I like my violence either Disney level or something like V for Vendetta, where, sure, a lot of people die, but it's not quite so messy.
We got to Rowan's pool, my stomach felt unsettled, I got in for warmup and all of a sudden tightened up. Twas lovely, truly, that feeling where everything hurts.
The entertaining bit of the morning? realizing that not only did Rowan think we were a University, but they misspelt University on our signs: Swarthmore Univeristy sat in those chairs at the end of the lanes.
Morning session times were not great, as I was grumpy and freaking out about the 1650; afternoon times were not great, as I was exhausted from the 1650. But so be it.
50 fly in the 200 medley relay: 29.8 (this is actually pretty good for me)
200 free: 2:11 (this is terrible. It should hopefully be 10 s faster by the end of the season; I would settle for a 2.07, 2.08 right now)
100 free in the 400 free relay: 59.8 (again, should be faster, but so long as I hit under a minute I don't complain)
1650, aka the mile: 19:20.ish. (This race, frankly, sucks to do when you're not tapered. And grumpy. And don't have a good disney song stuck in your head. I was good for the first 500, and then things started to hurt, and Sas passed me, and the rest of the race was uphill - so the first 20 laps were ok, the remaining 46 hurt.)
200 fly: 2.32. and change (slow, but also just as fast as I've swum it this season)
100 free: 1.01 (this? this is what I complain about in a hundred. Ewwwww.)
50 free in the 200 free relay: I think it was a 28 or 29. I frankly don't remember. I did break 30, though. Huzza.
There was a break before the mile where I went and took a nap on top of my homework (intentional? you tell me) and my attitude was better for the 2nd half. But ew. I will never ever have to race that much yardage in one day, EVER.
Paper due tomorrow that I have to turn into a podcast, so I need to finish writing it. And then I have a chunk of a group paper that's also due today. Awesome. Chorus concert tonight; should be spectacular. I think Liz is coming over from Haverford! There's a soloist who dropped out post-final-rehearsal which is really sad, b/c he's good, but he was also in Sirkka's play and they had to cancel their Sunday show -- his grandfather just died, and he has to go home for the funeral.
Oh - we did come back with Steph and I belting Glee and get off the bus to go up to the Quaker Meeting House for freshman banquet, which I had never made it to before, where SCF fed us good food. (They were playing mafia and debating the moral reasoning behind killing each of the townsfolk. Spectacular.) And the drunken swimmers stomped by my room last night as part of the dorm crawl, so I gave them orange juice and a spot of tea.
