Weekend Wandering
Drove back home Sat after class(es?), got back around 6. Enjoyed getting to spend some time with Mom and Cori... we realized that the raspberry-rhubarb sauce I had thrown together Thursday was ridiculously good over vanilla ice cream, eaten while watching Marie Antoinette. Which was not a particularly good movie, but the costumes were gorgeous.
Robert got confirmed this morning, and the service seemed to go on forever. (Good message, good music, but long) My grandparents came over for the service, and realized that the Bishop of our district (who we've never seen before) was my Mom's older sister's college roommate - and still kept in touch. So many pictures were taken, etc... a ridiculously huge lunch at 2 and then books and a sewing project.
I've been geeking out over a book of Firefly/Serenity movie criticism I found in McCabe. Almost as badly as I do over P&P criticism... *hangs head in shame*
Also, finished General Winston's Daughter, which was quite good.
Mom's declared that I can't buy the fabric for my P&P dress until after I use up all of the material that I've bought for other projects. (Yes, I listen to my Mom when she tells me these things, even though it'll be my money) Though that's... more than likely physically impossible, I started flipping through the stack of material that's eaten the bookcase in my Mom's room. Found about a yard and a half of beige cotton, threw together a chemise. No pattern, but it turned out pretty well. The plan is to make a bodice to go over the top out of this lovely burnt-orange suede, and maybe an overskirt. I guess I'll see.
Have some work to do on the room, on my literacy center, on the garden (does anyone need tomato plants? We have about another 10 that have decided to grow in our compost bin, and no place to move them to - also peppers. Though I can't tell which variety is which anymore, so the peppers might be pretty colored ones or green bell or 'agah I'm dying' spicy), etc. Meeting my summer swim team tomorrow night... should be fun.
So who's around to go dancing Tuesday night? And though I'm probably heading out Thursday evening to go back to Swat, what would you like to do before then?
