I made these apricot squares today. But I used about 10 real apricots instead of dried ones. I haven't tried one yet because they are still in the oven. And I realized I need to go buy some powdered sugar before they are complete. But they smell good and I have high hopes

i was thinking something like foxtail grass, but it isn't quite the same.

After a little googling starting with "foxtail grass" I think I've identified it as "foxtail barley." Thanks for the tip. :)
