I'm not a Democrat, but ...
... this is why it's so hard for me to vote Republican.
There is supposed to be a separation of Church and State in this country, and the people who control the Republican Party would rather have it otherwise. They have no respect for the values on which this country was founded; they have no respect for anyone who isn't one of them.
They are decidedly un-American, yet look down their self-righteous noses at the rest of us.
If the Republican Party wants my vote, they'll jettison the theocrats who lead the party around by the cross and get back to issues about governing what goes on in this life and let the preachers, rabbis, and imams worry about what goes on in the next life. What I do with my immortal soul is between God and me - the government has no business coming between us.
