I haven't followed college hoops at all this year. Both of Goucher's teams tanked in the inaugural season of the Landmark Conference (D-III), so what do I care?
But my NCAA brackets look pretty good so far. I only missed two on Day 1 (George Mason over Notre Dame and USC over Kansas St), but I had USC going to the Sweet Sixteen, so that's one more miss in the next round. My Final Four is UNC, Georgetown, Texas, and UCLA; I have UNC over UCLA.
Barack Obama has
posted his bracket. He has UNC, Kansas, Pitt, UCLA; with UNC over UCLA. I've seen a couple of articles ribbing him for picking UNC and Pitt since those two states have yet to hold primaries. But as one guy pointed out, he could also have picked WVU or Purdue.
John McCain also has
his brackets on his website, but it's harder to get to. First, you have to sign a typical Republican loyalty oath (provide email and ZIP Code, though I just threw in garbage to get through) to view them. But then you can win prizes if you beat him with your own brackets, so kudos to him for that. The design is fun, too. He has a Final Four of UNC, Kansas, Memphis, UConn; with UNC over UConn.
Hillary Clinton has no brackets.
So if this campaign is about change, we all lose because Obama and McCain have fairly conservative picks (except for maybe Memphis) and the same winner. If it's about judgment, we lose again because they both picked Kansas -- and Kansas always gets beat in the Elite Eight or Sweet Sixteen. I learned that lesson the hard way many, many times. Damn Jayhawks.
