I am studiously avoiding the State of the Union address. I'm guessing he says, "The state of the Union is strong!" and everybody stands up and applauds for a while before it takes a turn for the worse. I just can't even stand to listen to the guy talk, and it's not as if he can possibly say anything that wouldn't make me hurl the dog at the TV or just plain hurl. So the TV is off and the dog is safely camped out on the couch guarding her Ball.
I didn't get home until nearly 8:00 pm anyway, so the last thing I want to deal with is politics. There will be plenty of time for that tomorrow.
I need to stop obsessing about semicolons and learn to love short sentences.
I've downloaded the last 19 songs I could this month from emusic.com. I'm getting back into alt-country again. I have the Drive-By Truckers' The Dirty South going now. I'll finish off the rest of an Old 97's album when my monthly downloads reboots in a few days.
I also edited up an entry for the Architecture challenge over on
DPChallenge. I entered the previous three editions of it over the last six years, so I want to keep this little streak going, especially since my first entry on the site (which sucked) was in the first Architecture challenge. I managed to sneak out of the office for a few minutes in the late afternoon (for a "smoke break") and get some motion blur shots of the few people hanging around the South Atrium for an Appropriations subcommittee meeting. It came out kind of cool, actually, but won't do well in the competition because it's an interior shot. Screw 'em. I like it well enough. Besides, I don't have the time this time of year to get downtown and get the kind of shot I got
last time.
