"actor" defined: fun with context!

Let's take a piece of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated completely out of context, shall we?"Actor" means a person accused of sexual assault.
We're in the midst of page proofs. I have Title 16, Crimes and Offenses. I'm currently working on Chapter 6, Sexual Offenses.

The out-of-context quote above is from Code Section 16-6-5.1, relating to various kinds of sexual assault. That definition of actor is only used in this Code section in this context: "... and such actor has supervisory or disciplinary authority over such other person."

Obviously, an "actor" in this case can't possibly be a theatre or film actor.

Never in a million years would an actor be given any authority of any kind whatsoever. Can you imagine the chaos?

ETA: That Code section also defines "intimate parts," "psychotherapy," and "sexual contact" (but only for that Code section). That last one has been redefined by HB 1059 (scroll down to Section 13), which is why I'm reading it; HB 1509 also rewrote much of the rest of 16-6-5.1. So that first link to CS 16-6-5.1 goes to a version of that Code section that will be out of date on July 1, 2006.

code, work
