Basics
Name: Sarah
Age: Eighteen
Location: Istanbul, Turkey, at the moment; soon to be the UK.
Likes: Art, literature, cinema, the smell of books, surrealism, creativity, Tori Amos, the sound of rain, espresso, originality, world cuisine.
Dislikes: Narrow-mindedness, nationalism, and jealousy are the biggies. Insects, early mornings, and humidity are close seconds.
Positive adjectives to describe yourself: Independant, authentic, honest, artistic, reflective.
Negative adjectives to describe yourself: Self-critical, solitary, distant, at times perfectionistic.
Hobbies & Interests: Most forms of artistic self-expression, particularly painting and dance (I've been doing ballet for 10 years now). Books and reading have always been a major part of who I am and I've recently decided to major in English Lit. I've been in love with skiing ever since I started 4 years ago. I sing occasionally too, but only at school talent shows and in the shower :)

Favorites

Color: Dark, rich purple
Movie: The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Atonement, V for Vendetta, The Other Boleyn Girl, Memoirs of a Geisha, Elizabeth; The Golden Age, Interview With The Vampire. Plus a whole bunch of independant movies which I see at film festivals whose contents I remember yet titles I forget. =]
Music: Tori Amos, The Cranberries, The Bravery, The Fray, Noir Désir, The Cinematic Orchestra, Pearl Jam.
Novel: The Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop and The Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien, because epic fantasy holds a special place in my heart. Mrs. Dalloway, Virginia Woolf. Anything by Ian McEwan, Paulo Coelho and Jane Austen. I love many from Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Philippa Gregory, and Shakespeare as well.
Fragrance/Scent: Ylang ylang, jasmine, and sandalwood.
Quotation/Lyric: The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.
Friedrich Nietzsche

This or That

Optimistic or Pessimistic: Pessimistic
Realist or Idealist: Realist
Light or Dark: Dark
Introverted or Extroverted: Introverted
Calm or Chaos: Calm
Intuition or Logic: Logic

Personal
Hopes, dreams, wishes for the present and future: At the moment, graduate successfully and be off to a motivating start in uni. Be less self-critical but no less driven. And as cheesy as this may sound, a boyfriend/partner, whether short or long term. I've realised that this past year I have been hiding a lot of lonliness behind a mask of self-sufficiency.
What is your ultimate dream to achieve?: Complete financial independance, and recognition, through something I am passionate about and enjoy doing.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned?: That you cannot let injustice bring you down. There will always be those who do not understand or appreciate your potential and it is destructive to let that rejection shake one's belief in themself.
Something you admire/love/respect: Anyone with truly unique and successful lives, who don't go with the norm and take a risky road less traveled but with greater rewards at the end.
Something you detest greatly: Jealousy. Stop scheming and whining and get out there to surpass the object of your jealousy.
If you could have one "supernatural" power, what would it be?: A cool power would be to be able to see right through people; as in, know their thoughts, desires, strengths, weaknesses and real motives at will.
Where do you feel most at home?: If I'm curled up on a comfy couch, with a single espresso and a great book in my hand, I'm home.
Do you have any creative talents?: Yes, most of my talents lie in the creative arena as I've pointed out before. My work may be found here, if anyone's interested.
Where is your favourite place to be, and why? When I bundle up and take a walk at night on the deserted ski slopes. I've only done so once, last winter; it was breathtaking, the serenity I felt as I watched the snowy, silent mountains. Melodramatic I may sound, but it was pretty darn amazing; especially the amount of stars. Yay for lack of light pollution at 2000 metres =)
