Good weekend, limping Monday

Busy, good stuff, for the most part. We spend Friday evening, which happened to be our anniversary, having dinner with his family. We've been "double dating" with his parents a lot lately, and surprising ourselves by enjoying it greatly. Although Rascal did almost choke on a "date" last week when his father confided to me, "One day while I was in the Navy a woman met me at the boat wearing nothing but a raincoat." Rascal's mom overheard and suddenly we had 5 feet, 180 pounds of fury. While we prepared to duck, she shouted - shouted, in the middle of a restaurant, mind you - "I had SOMETHING on, I wasn't COMPLETELY naked!!" I think the best part of that was watching Rascal torn between laughter and horror. It's been fun, though, and Friday was no exception. His sister was there too, displaying the stitch and bandages where a couple of hours earlier, she'd been bitten by the dog she's watching. We stayed at dinner talking until late and then drove home in the full moon light feeling dreamy. Happy Anniversary. Saturday was the day for errands, and finally finishing the last of the invite stuff. It was a half-lazy, half-productive day, the first full day we've spent together in quite some time. On Sunday we got up early to go to the Ren Fest with his family. Even one of the family dogs came, one of the Scottish Terriers, so Rascal wore his kilt. Our family outing was delayed, however, when while playing with the dog in the backseat, Rascal's sister was heard to say, "Look mom, I'm pissing her off." I glanced back to see that she had the dog partially upside down and was blowing in her ear. Rascal's mom said to the dog, "Don't take that, Flirt, get her." And the dog did. I don't think the dog actually meant to nip, but we hit a bump at that moment too, and two seconds later there was blood pouring down sis's face. Fortunately, we happened to be just blocks from the emergency room where Rascal's mom works. Two and a half hours of waiting in the emergency room while people stared and commented (Rascal in his kilt and me in Arabian silks) and sis finally emerged with stitches through her lip. She'll have a scar, which makes her burst into tears every time she thinks of it. But she's a trooper, so off to Fest we went to spend the day walking around. We saw a few good people it was nice to see, and one bad one - an exgirlfriend of mine (in the literal sense) who slashed my car tires after I wouldn't say "I love you" to her. (I didn't, and I don't think those are words one should use unless true.) That run-in was awkward and wrong. But the others were pretty good. Didn't see a couple of people we wanted to see (Rilla) and didn't get to talk to others we saw at a distance. That was made more difficult by trying to keep in a group. But it was fun, and a good day. We left right before cannon and went to dinner, then came home to collapse in a heap. It was, like I said, a fairly good weekend.

Anyone, by the way, who wants to spend time with Rascal or both of us anytime within the next month and a half must reserve time now for this week only. After this week, his class and work schedule will be such that even living with him, I won't see him for more than an hour a day. He'll be getting up at 6am and won't be returning home until past 10pm - and then will be eating and going to bed to rise again at 6. Weekends will be for homework and life stuff. He only has Tues and Thurs left open, then he will be invisible boy until right before the wedding. No Rascal for Moon for awhile...*sniff*.
