Could it all be running smoothly?
I'm sitting behind the desk at my new job. I made a name plate that is very homemade. I like it though. It makes it look like I actually work here. Which I do! I work here. I am an extra help secretary to Assistant Dean Thompson in the ACES Academic Programs department. I think the Dean likes me. He calls me a "real woman." And he likes the work I do. He's a funny guy. I like that he scratches his back on door frames - just like a bear. A big Diversity Dean bear.
I work with Holly, Dawn, Jamie - those are the really nice people. Rob is really nice too, but he is a little harder to connect to... I can't decide if that's on my side or his. Then there's Anita. She's special. A nice person, I think, but nosy and needy and a little passive-agressive.
I love getting stuff done! This job is like a big to-do list which you make progress on everyday. Plus, there always seems to be food somewhere. I hope I get my civil service exam date soon, so then I can do this job, get paid for real, and have health insurance without leeching off my parents.
I'm going to St. Louis this weekend with Claudia to play with puppies.
Everything is going so well all of a sudden. And at the end of this month, I find out if I go to Japan.
