Tiggy Keeps Running Occasionally

Oct 09, 2008 02:12

On Wednesday (September 17th), my diaphragm stopped being sore and complainy, so I went running again. 560+164+203+203+165+157+179+224=1855 in 152+55+70+75+54+52+60+77=595 (3.68, 2.99, 2.91, 2.71, 3.94, 2.98, 2.97, 2.93, average 3.11). Not too bad; it works out to be 1810 in 9:39, though it's generally slower than Sunday. I'm blaming jokergirl. On Friday 19th, I was a lot slower (1856/606.26). Sunday 21st was a lot better (1856/564). Friday 26th was a little slower (1855/571). I thought Saturday was a bit soon to be running, worked late most days of the week, Friday 3rd I left work early for some techieing that didn't happen, Saturday was lazy and headachy, Sunday was more fresher's stuff... Finally ran again on Wednesday 8th; 1856 in 550. I suspect there's been a mistake, since it was about an hour after my first meal in 24 hours, and my watch played up slightly. Perhaps I should invest in a GPS.

Also, apparently it helps a lot if I concentrate on lengthening my stride, provided my diaphragm doesn't give in.

Work's been pretty good; we're just wrapping up a 3-week project which overran only slightly. It was also nice to write code that actually does something for a change, instead of just glue (and believe me, 90% of code out there is just glue, shuffling data from one place to another without doing anything particularly intelligent to it. UI is the worst kind of glue).

Fresher's week has been a bit weird - I'm not even living with students anymore, and thus completely out of the loop. I'm also not sure if anyone I used to know particularly cares for me to visit, but meh.
