last night akcoll99, junior and myself all went to a party. now, i say "went to" like it was some house right down the street or something, but this is not the case.
no the "party" was some sort of event for heather and her family. heather is my really good friend marks lady friend. and this place was apparently out in the COOUUUUNTRRRY at lake anna. i've heard of lake anna before, but never really knew where it was.
some back story on this party. heather called me a month or so ago and was like "i want to have a bonfire party sometime in august. ok?" sure, why not. then the next day mark calls me to say "hey did heather call you about the bonfire thing?" but had no other details to give. he then proceeded to call me for the next 2 weeks asking me if heather had called me about the bonfire thing. he had a lot on his mind it's okay. BUT STILL NO INFORMATION.
thursday rolled around and i STILL had no information on the deal. but mark sent me the address and time and all so we decided to all go.
as i mentioned, this thing was WAAAYYY out there. google directions were a little spotty, and left off a bunch of turns that we needed to take, but we stayed on it. stopped off at some gas station out there for 35 cent sodas, and to basically get peeped on by the locals hanging around, while we got our bearings some.
back on the road, and we all started to feel like we were pretty lost, so we turned around while i fired up my phones gps navigation, hoping i could triangulate way out there. (aside, it figures that when you NEED directions stat, there will invariably be an update to the software that you need to try to download and deal with rather than just being able to get your info, but whatever. i have to give verizon credit for working really well as far out as we were.
once i got it all updated and fired up, it told us we had been going to right way, so we turned BACK around and continued on. eventually making it just fine. making it just fine... to the GATED community out at lake anna. WHY IS THERE A GATED COMMUNITY WAY THE FRAK OUT HERE? theres nothing else around for miles. they don't need any MORE deterrent than that truly. but oh well.
got to meet heathers family and sister, marks family was there as well, and they're always fun (and are pretty much my other family), so it was good stuff. afterwards most of the other guests left and left the rest of us to drink and work on the bonfire.
i SAY bonfire. but truly i was brought there under false pretenses. i was expecting a BONFIRE. something taller than me, with flames that can be seen from space. THAT IS A BONFIRE. in the basest, most jason sense of the word. but no. this was a glorified campfire. and granted it was a GOOD campfire as far as they go, but still, i was a little disappointed.
we had sparklers and things to burn, and just all in all had a really super fun time hanging out around the fire by the lake. the kids were all running around and happy (heathers daughter trinity and some other kids. sadly lily wasn't there though.)
PLUS THEY HAD A TRAMAPOLINE! so trinity spent a decent amount of time kicking mine and juniors collective asses on it. she's a tackler. and many a bounce sent her skyrocketing star wards, and i was afraid i was going to launch her into the nearby swingset.
afterwards, we all stood around while mark and heather tried to pitch tents in the darkness (OH well, NEAR darkness. apparently there are CRAZY amounts of stars up in the sky. who knew?)
we left after they were done, since we didn't want to camp out, and also today i need to pack my shit up cuz i'm gone to the beach for a week with kfan and rosalier.
definitely a fuuuun night though, despite the drive.
