Another Day in Paradise.

Ugh. Joggers. I hated those jogger assholes, because they drag me from my comfy four-star hotel bed at ungodly hours. And because they typically wore ugly short-shorts. It was just unnecessary. No one needed to see that, especially the last person to see you before you die. Gray jersey, stretched too tight around sagging middle-aged ass, the leg holes flapping ever so slightly with each step. A walkman, or iPod if they were more techno-savvy, strapped to a love handle, blaring some cheesy classic rock that made me want to vomit on them and kill them as well. Just the thought of it made me want to stay curled up in bed, where I had fallen asleep with my laptop after Red sent me the files.

But.. she worked too hard on these things. Another day, another dollar, another body for the six o'clock news.

There was a bonus to getting up so early. Aside from looking great in my little track suit and big Jackie-O sunglasses. Coffee and pastries. After Mr. Dead-Though-I-Don't-Know-For-What-But-They-Don't-Pay-Me-To-Think-About-That was done, Starbucks was on the list. There was a fully loaded Venti Mocha and a cinnamon chip scone with my name on them. But apparently, many many others had heard this particular siren's call. I took my place in line, fidgeting with the elastic in my hair before pulling it out and sliding it onto my wrist. I was getting used to the feeling of things, actually touching skin and other stuff with my bare hands. It was freaky and nice and I can't believe I'm getting sentimental over a sense. Whatever.

I realized I had left my phone off. Shit. Rosenberg was probably trying to call, and call, and call. Hence why I turned the ring and vibe off. Didn't want her spooking the target, cause the vibrate option on the phone she gave me was way too loud. I flipped open the display and sure enough. Many little missed calls a-waiting me. I skipped listening to the messages and just dialed her number. Waited for her end to pick up and...

"Kkk, Red, help.." I made with the choking noises, garnering a few strange looks from the others in line. It was fun, yanking her chain.
