Barklay and I decided to take a lovely evening stroll by the lake so he could meet up with frends. Oh dear, did he ever. Let me see how good the memory...a golden retriever with a familiar name Zak (snort), I think he is 2, I think. A pit bull who is very unpitbull like, complete nancy and has an adorable pink nose. Not sure age. A gorgeous great dane - 4 going on 5. Barklay's birthday is September 17 and a beagle (she is called Maple). His girlfriend who happens to share the same day of birth. Her owner has decided that this is such a hallowed event that we all should give them both a joint birthday part at her and her hubby's place...lol!
Let me digress. I once owned, rather recently a company that shared my moniker and provided luxury goods for pets, specifically dogs and cats. I always had a hard time purchasing the wedding dress costumes and the tux costumes. I would walk past them and eventually my business partner in crime always was left with that task. While I sorted through other things she had far less interest in. See, they are animals, I know we all are, but they are animals of the four legged variety and sometimes I think we put them through ridiculous things for no apparent early reason worth mentioning. Anywho, Maple's owner has decided this is a grand idea, along with party hats, a cake, games of chance and a barbeque depending on the weather. I rather like her and Barklay rather loves Maple, well sniffing her and following her about.
I am having huge mixed feelings about this little event. It just strikes me as odd. Usually he gets toys and toiletries for his B-Day and a groom or an extra long walk by the lake where he is chased by water as it rushes in. That is the sum total of his day and the big event.
Right, now to the question. Have you ever given your pet a birthday party? Jason will have his fair share of opinions on this matter ad nauseum about the decline and fall of the West etc., etc., etc.. Me? Not so much. More along the lines of "ITS A DOG, WOMAN! HAVE THE QUE ALREADY AND WE WILL BRING THE WINE AND WHATEVER ELSE WE ARE ASSIGNED"
