Catholic Charities has a special deal that they offer. If you order their box o' food, they can buy it in bulk. You get cheap food, they raise money.
There are many options, but I'll give you this one as an example:
$21 + $1.50
1 lb. Ground beef
2-12 oz. Pork loin tips
2.6 lb. Chicken thighs
12 oz. Pork sausage links
4 pk. Egg & Cheese omelet
1 lb. Frozen peas
28 oz. Sliced beef dinner with gravy
Plus a variety of 12-17lbs of fresh fruits and vegetables
So, that's almost six pounds of meat, 12-17 pounds of produce, frozen peas, "sliced beef dinner", "egg & cheese omelet" for $22.50.
It seems like a damn good deal to me.
This food must be ordered by Monday, 12/12, and you must commit to pick it up on Saturday, 12/17.
I definitely plan to participate this time around, and consider participating again in the future.
