Sulphur definitely does not like her new sensitivity to light. It hinders her ability to explore the island, at least for now - she's going to have to wait until nighttime, unless she wants to have a wicked migraine. So, for now, she's curled up in the shade of the palm forest, toeing the sand as she idly flips through a copy of the Bible she jacked from the boat before they docked.

Frankly, she thinks it's boring, for the most part - though she finds a distant comfort in the fact that Eve herself was made from Adam to keep him company. She was a person, and she was made...

The Pet is distracted from her pondering when she hears a thud against the sand nearby. She leans over in an attempt to examine the source of the noise, but - ... it flies off.

Uh, what.

Sulphur blinks at the empty space.

His absence didn't last long, however, and it seemed the bird was getting more than a little impatient with his repeated attempts at escape; this time Vincent was all but flung back to the ground, where he landed flat on his back with a heavy thunk.

Stifling a growl that most certainly wasn't human, he pushed himself up. "Damn it!" He shot a positively withering glare at the bird as it shrunk into the sky again. "What's the point of being able to fly if--"

And there he broke off, senses prickling, and turned to fix eyes of glowing red--laced with gold, he's far too aggravated right now--on the little cat-woman-thing sitting not two meters away.

...Well, this wasn't awkward at all.

Something about the man reoccupying that certain little patch of sand puts Sulphur on edge. She feels the hair on the back of her neck bristle, and she shuts her book, eying him warily.

"Whatever you're trying to do," she says, looking him up and down, "doesn't seem to be working."

Vincent's expression flattened somewhat, an edge of the anger taken off. "I've noticed."

He pushed himself back up and moved to recollect his cloak, a pile of scarlet dumped beneath a nearby tree. Finding it still soaked, he gave a quiet sigh and shook it out before pushing back up off the ground and carefully hooking it onto the rough bark just below the palms of the tree.

A coconut tried to fall on him, and succeeded only in compacting a small circle of ground below. Vincent landed once his cloak was secure and turned to look back at Sulphur, gauging her response. Normally he wasn't so flippant with his abilities when there were other people around, but if she'd been there any decent span of time she had to have seen him take off at least once.

"I apologize if I surprised you."
