Sorry for the constant failure :< iwitnessdamsel March 13 2010, 04:35:36 UTC
April had come up for a breath of fresh air. Partly hidden under her arm was an embarrassingly romantic little paperback she wasn't sure she could stomach, but had every intention of trying to anyways.

She'd maybe figured she'd have to ignore a shady passenger or two up top, maybe chat it up with a few she'd befriended...

She hadn't expected seeing a Goddamn Miniature Car.

The redhead stopped a few steps from the doors and stared. The hell--it looked too small for a person to sit in and drive, so was it controlled remotely? Had the Captain just dropped it and left it there to cause mild, harmless confusion? The Hell?!

"God, what next?"

Bumblebee skidded to a stop at the voice, executing a neat y-turn so he was facing April. He appraised her for a moment, then unfolded into his robotic form, stretching his limbs idly. He raised one hand a waved in a friendly manner. At the same time, his speakers sprang to life.

"♫ --Hello, hello--"

April dropped her book, took a breath and screamed.

Honestly, she knew by this point that they had robots on the boat. She did know that. What she apparently hadn't known or even considered were that the robots could turn into cars and looked that. Frightening. When they were just...in...robot form or whatever.

The New Yorker panicked, and stumbled backwards until her shoulder blades smacked against the stairwell door.

"Stay there!" she demanded. She made a Face at the thing and pointed, just so it knew she Meant Business. "Stay--stay right there, you're...freaking me out! You big...thing!"

Bumblebee sighed and heaved his shoulders in an exaggerated manner before covering his face with his hand. Humans. They were always so jumpy, even when he was their size. He stayed where he was asked, though. The 'bot crossed his arms, studying April for a moment or two.

"Just tryin' to be friendly--"

"We come in peace--!"

It didn't take a genius to realize the robot thing was indeed 'friendly'--not that she wanted it coming any closer, mind you--April quickly began to feel embarrassed for her quite 'girly' outburst.

She made up for this with bitterness.

"well, that's a cute trick." she said under her breath, stalling while she regained the last of her composure. Finally, the reporter straightened. "...Sorry. You...Caught me by surprise."

Nice way of putting it.

"I didn't mean to scream--I'm April."

No way in Hell she's giving you her hand.

Bumblebee nodded and gave a thumbs up, but didn't offer his hand. That was more a human thing, anyhow. Instead, he merely cocked his head to one side in a curious manner, then played another soundbite.

"Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee--!" He patted his own chest, trying to get his point across. Sometimes not being able to actually talk was a real pain in the skidplate.

It did take her a moment, then April shifted her weight and nodded in understanding. "I get it. I think. You're Bee?" She'd already assumed this was how he'd be communicating for the rest of their conversation.

He nodded once more and his speakers let loose a little trumpet fanfare.

"I'm new in town--"
