[Herz felt...good again.
It took almost two months, and a lot of pushing through shit to get there...but he was happy. Most of the thanks had to go to Keats. Somehow ensnaring one of his crushes just...miraculously put everything in a better light. And Herz, himself, in a better mood.
Still, even when he had mostly happy thoughts, Herz was nearly neurotic by nature. Anxious thoughts still bounced around his brain from time to time, especially when he had little to do.
Tonight, since he was giving his new found boyfriend some space--can't go too fast, okay? Okay--Herz had forsaken his kitchen--too alone for too long--and headed up to the top deck to read by starlight. He'd almost picked through all of the Goosebumps he'd found sitting unloved on deck 12. He was on the second to last horror-show.
He couldn't believe these used to scare him as a kid.
He couldn't believe they let kids READ these, either. It was an odd mix.
The plan, as said, was to read...but tonight Herz couldn't focus. His eyes kept drifting to the waves he could see clearly through the dark. His thoughts kept going back to what Kage had told him, before their falling out. Maybe it was because that Chase kid had shown up. Maybe that's why he was wondering where the dot on the horizon could be.
Soon, he realized he wasn't reading anymore at all, and reluctantly put the book back into the cardboard box, along with all the others. He trailed to the railing, and looked out, watching the horizon, waiting for what Kage had felt was coming before the start of the New Year.]
