Though he would never admit it, the note and the noose have Raoul rattled. Yes, he emerged as the victor after one sword fight with the man, and they aren't so badly outmatched that the Phantom will easily overpower him in any other sort of combat, but it is unnerving to have a clearly insane man out for his blood in any case. He can't just let him win either. Neither his pride nor his devotion to Christine would let him back down.
Speaking of Christine, he's on his way to her room. He wants her company, and her presence does wonders in soothing his nerves. He's sure that the Phantom wouldn't dare make a move so soon after threatening him, and Christine's room isn't so far away.
